The Turf Publicists of
America is an organization that was created in 1951. It is comprised of
approximately 180 Thoroughbred racing publicists and marketing executives at
racetracks throughout North America with the shared goal of promoting the
sport of Thoroughbred racing.
Every year, the TPA:
-
Publishes a Directory for
members of the TPA and the National Turf Writers Association;

Maintains a web site -
www.turfpublicists.com - with up-to- date organization information;

Publishes the TPA
Newsletter, a semi-quarterly publication with a mailing list of more
than 500, including members of the TPA and NTWA, and racetrack
executives across the nation;

Sponsors the TPA Big
Sport of Turfdom Award to recognize an individual or individuals who
enhanced the sport of Thoroughbred racing through their cooperation with
the media and racetrack personnel. The Big Sport of Turfdom has been
presented annually since 1966;

Supports various
educational programs like the 2003 Collegiate Sports Journalism Seminar.
